Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TeacherGPT ("TeacherGPT," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and lets you control information when you use the TeacherGPT app in ChatGPT or visit a TeacherGPT lesson link.
1. Service and controller
TeacherGPT turns captioned YouTube videos into interactive multiple-choice lessons. TeacherGPT is operated by Puzzicle / Carlos Fernandes. Privacy questions and deletion requests may be submitted through our secure support form.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide through ChatGPT
- YouTube video URLs or 11-character video IDs;
- an optional lesson title;
- quiz preferences, including question count, difficulty, and focus topics;
- generated quiz questions, answer choices, correct-answer indexes, timestamps, and explanations passed to the save tool;
- lesson IDs supplied when retrieving or deleting a lesson;
- support-form details, including your reply email, optional name and lesson ID, request type, and message.
Do not submit confidential information or personal data about yourself or others. TeacherGPT does not require names, email addresses, payment data, credentials, government identifiers, health information, or precise location.
2.2 Information obtained from YouTube
For the video you select, TeacherGPT receives publicly available caption text and timing segments from Coursarium, together with the associated YouTube video ID and URL.
2.3 Generated information and tool outputs
TeacherGPT creates a random lesson ID, draft and saved-lesson status, lesson title, video metadata, transcript-derived quiz content, question count, creation timestamps, and an unlisted lesson URL. Retrieval tools return lesson metadata and the unlisted link. The deletion tool returns whether the specified lesson was deleted.
2.4 Technical and operational data
Our web server and hosting infrastructure may process IP address, request time, requested path, HTTP status, user agent, request identifiers, and security or error logs. MCP session identifiers are held temporarily in server memory. We do not use advertising cookies or build advertising profiles.
3. Why we use information
- retrieve captions for the YouTube video you request;
- prepare and generate the quiz according to your preferences;
- save, display, retrieve, share through an unlisted URL, and delete lessons;
- operate MCP sessions and respond to tool requests;
- protect the service, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and maintain reliability;
- comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell personal data, use lesson content for targeted advertising, or use lesson content to train our own AI model.
4. Tool-by-tool data use
- process_video: sends the selected YouTube video ID to Coursarium, receives captions, and stores a temporary transcript draft.
- create_quiz: reads the draft transcript and returns it with the selected quiz preferences to ChatGPT so ChatGPT can generate questions; it does not change stored data.
- save_lesson: stores the transcript, video metadata, lesson title, questions, answers, explanations, and timestamps, then returns an unlisted lesson URL.
- get_lesson: uses the supplied lesson ID to return the matching lesson title, question count, video ID, and unlisted URL.
- delete_lesson: permanently deletes the lesson, transcript, questions, and answer options associated with the supplied lesson ID.
5. Who receives information
- OpenAI: receives and processes your ChatGPT conversation, tool inputs, and tool outputs under OpenAI's policies and your ChatGPT settings.
- Coursarium: receives the YouTube video ID solely to retrieve the publicly available transcript requested through
process_video. - TeacherGPT support team: receives support-form submissions to respond to requests.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers: process stored lesson data and operational logs as needed to host, secure, and deliver TeacherGPT.
- People you choose: anyone to whom you provide an unlisted lesson URL can access that lesson. TeacherGPT does not publish a directory of saved lessons.
- Authorities or transaction parties: information may be disclosed when required by law, to protect rights and security, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell or rent lesson data. You should also review OpenAI's Privacy Policy, and Google/YouTube's Privacy Policy.
6. Retention
- Draft transcripts are scheduled for deletion after 24 hours.
- Saved lessons remain until deleted with
delete_lessonor until the service is discontinued. - In-memory MCP sessions expire after 30 minutes of inactivity.
- Routine server and security logs are retained for up to 30 days unless a longer period is required to investigate abuse, resolve an incident, or comply with law.
- Support requests and replies are retained for up to 24 months for follow-up, dispute handling, and service improvement, unless earlier deletion is required or a longer period is legally necessary.
7. Your controls and choices
- Choose which YouTube video and quiz preferences to provide.
- Do not share an unlisted lesson URL with people who should not see the lesson.
- Ask TeacherGPT to permanently delete a lesson and provide its lesson ID.
- Use the support form to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable. Include the lesson ID, but do not email sensitive information.
- Manage or delete your ChatGPT conversations using OpenAI's privacy controls.
Because TeacherGPT does not create user accounts or collect identity information, we may be unable to associate a lesson with you unless you provide its unlisted lesson ID. We may request reasonable verification before acting on a privacy request.
8. Security
We use HTTPS in production, random UUID lesson identifiers, limited tool inputs, restricted cross-origin access, request-size limits, and server security headers. Unlisted links are not authentication; anyone with the link can view the lesson. No internet service is completely secure.
9. International processing
TeacherGPT, OpenAI, Coursarium, and infrastructure providers may process information in countries other than yours. Applicable contractual and legal safeguards are used where required.
10. Children's privacy
TeacherGPT is not directed to children under 13. Users must meet ChatGPT's age requirements. Parents and educators should supervise minors and avoid submitting personal information about children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the date above. Material changes will be highlighted when reasonably possible.
