A ChatGPT app for learning

Turn any YouTube video into a quiz that plays along

Share a video link with TeacherGPT in ChatGPT. You get an interactive lesson where questions pop up at the right moment, on top of the paused video. Then save it, share it, and fine-tune it with AI.

Works with any YouTube video that has captions.

Example: a question appears over the paused video. Pins on the timeline show where every question is.

How it works

  4. Save, share, refine

Keep it in My Lessons, send the link to others, or edit it with AI.

Features

Built for active learning

Question pins on the timeline

See where every question sits in the video, and jump straight to any of them.

Questions over the video

Questions appear on top of the paused scene, so you keep the context of what you just watched.

More than multiple choice

Short answers, open questions that are checked automatically, recap notes, and key-term pop-ups. Every answer comes with an explanation.

Your settings

Tell it who the lesson is for, then choose 3–15 questions, the difficulty, the question types, the topics, and the language.

My Lessons

Sign in with just your email to keep every lesson you open in one place.

Easy to share

Every lesson has its own link with a rich preview. Send it to a class, a team, or a friend.

New · AI lesson editor

Edit a lesson by chatting with it

Chat on the left, your lesson on the right. Ask for changes in plain words and watch the preview update.

  • “Make question 3 easier” or “add two questions about the ending.” The assistant uses the video transcript.
  • You stay in control. Nothing changes for others until you press Save, and you can undo any step.
  • Owners decide. The first person to open a lesson owns it, and chooses whether others edit the original or make their own copy.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Which videos work?

Public YouTube videos that have captions or subtitles. TeacherGPT builds questions from the video's transcript. Other video sites aren't supported yet.

Do I need an account?

No. You can create and take quizzes in ChatGPT without one. A free TeacherGPT account (just your email, no password) lets you keep lessons in My Lessons, own them, and edit them with AI.

Who owns a lesson, and who can edit it?

The first signed-in person to open a lesson link becomes its owner. The owner chooses what happens when someone else edits it: either they edit the original, or they make their own copy (the default).

Anyone with the link can still take the quiz. Editing always requires signing in.

How are open answers checked?

When a lesson is created, TeacherGPT also writes the key ideas a good answer should contain. When a learner answers, we compare their answer with those key ideas using a fast AI check, and show whether it's correct, partly right, or not quite, along with a model answer.

Short answers are checked instantly in your browser first, with allowance for small typos. If automatic checking is ever unavailable, learners compare their answer with the model answer themselves.

Who can see my lessons?

Lessons are unlisted: they aren't searchable or listed publicly, but anyone with the link can open them. Only share links with people you want to see the lesson.

How do I delete a lesson or my account?

Ask TeacherGPT in ChatGPT to delete a lesson using its lesson ID, or contact support. You can delete your TeacherGPT account at any time from My Lessons.
